I give you Boehls Cabin

Boehls3

When I was in high school I had a summer job of fighting forest fires for the CPTPA (the Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association) in northern Idaho.  I would spend my summers at a place called Boehls Cabin.  Boehls Cabin is sort of a special place for me.  Years before I worked there in the summer, I would spend summers with my dad in the general area when he would be in logging camp.  If you do a google search, you really won’t come up with much, but I can tell you that it is located in a somewhat remote area of northern Idaho known as Floodwood.

I left northern Idaho for the United States Air Force in 1988 and until a few weeks ago hadn’t been back to Floodwood, or Boehls Cabin since 1989.  The biggest challenge to getting back there when I lived in Arizona was that on the times that we would take vacation and visit my family in Idaho, we never really wanted to kill a full day with a trip out to Floodwood, we would rather spend that time with family and friends.  Now that we are back in the pacific northwest, and getting to spend a lot more time with family, we are also taking the opportunity to sight see and visit some of these places from my past.

I really should have made more images of the place when I was there over the long Memorial Day weekend, but I ended up only taking a few snapshots which are in this post, but that really wasn’t the point of the trip.  It was to spend the day with my brother Randy, his wife Marci and their 3 adorable daughters as well as with my sister Mindi and her fiance Joe at a part of the world that is not only extremely gorgeous, but a place that has  a lot of great memories.
